Veteran’s Day 2010

Posted by on 11 Nov 2010 | Tagged as: Military

For the past few days I have been attempting to write another tribute to United States Veterans for my post today. My approach this time was to explain why I and so many other Americans value the honor, courage and commitment of those who have served this nation so well.

It is not about simply putting on a uniform. It is about the people inside the uniforms and how they conduct themselves while wearing them. It’s about what they do and why they do it.

While searching the internet looking for inspiration on how to adequately state my views on this subject, I came across the following video which does a far better job than I ever could. In this video, Col. Oliver North is speaking about the troops of today, but what he says about the character of American troops applies to service men and women throughout our history.

Every year on this day we have parades, ceremonies and tributes to honor the men and women who have worn the uniform. We do so not because we like parades, ceremonies and tributes, but because we truly appreciate the job those people have done for our country and the world. It’s what we do. We’re Americans.

I would like to wish all you who have served a very Happy Veteran’s Day and to once again say, “Thank you for your service from a grateful nation.”
